Schengen Visa Photo Maker (35×45 mm)

Schengen visa applications for all member states ask for a biometric photo 35 mm wide and 45 mm high, on a light background, with your face filling 70–80% of the height. This tool crops your photo to that shape and resizes it to 827 × 1063 pixels, which prints at exactly 35 × 45 mm at 600 DPI.

How to make a Schengen visa photo

  • Stand in front of a plain white or light grey wall with soft, even light.
  • Take the photo straight on, from chest height, with your head and shoulders in the frame.
  • Upload it above and check that your face fills most of the preview, from chin to the top of your head.
  • Download the JPG and print it at 35 × 45 mm on photo paper, or upload it where your visa centre accepts digital photos.

Biometric photo rules

  • Recent photo, usually not older than 6 months.
  • Look straight at the camera, head not tilted, mouth closed, neutral expression.
  • Eyes open and clearly visible; no sunglasses, and no frames covering the eyes or flash glare on glasses.
  • No hat or head covering, except for religious or medical reasons, with the face fully visible.
  • No retouching or filters.

Which countries use 35 × 45 mm?

Every Schengen country (Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Switzerland and the rest) uses 35 × 45 mm for visa photos. Many other countries, including India, the UK and Australia, use the same shape for passports or visas, so this file is useful well beyond Europe.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Schengen visa photo size?

35 mm wide by 45 mm high, with the face (chin to crown) between 32 mm and 36 mm, which is 70–80% of the photo height.

What is 35 × 45 mm in pixels?

It depends on print resolution: 413 × 531 pixels at 300 DPI, or 827 × 1063 pixels at 600 DPI. This tool uses 827 × 1063 for a sharp print; you can change the boxes if a portal asks for something else.

Is the Schengen photo the same for all countries?

The size and biometric rules are the same across the Schengen area. Individual consulates sometimes add details, such as how recent the photo must be.

Can I wear glasses in a Schengen visa photo?

Clear glasses are often accepted if the frames do not cover your eyes and there is no glare, but many consulates prefer no glasses. Removing them is the safest choice.

Are my photo and signature uploaded anywhere?

No. Resizing and compression happen inside your browser. Your files never leave your device.
